How MEG responded to COVID-19

During the pandemic MEG moved classes online and delivered food, tablets, laptops and hot meals to families and older people.

A MEG community celebration in 2022

When COVID-19 arrived in 2020, our face-to-face ESOL and sewing classes had to stop. Many of the families we support were suddenly cut off – from school, from services and from each other.

What we did

  • Gave extra help to people self-isolating and shielding, including older people and those with health conditions
  • Supported parents and children through school closures
  • Moved activities online in 2021
  • Delivered food, tablets, laptops and hot meals to vulnerable families and elderly people

Back together

In 2022 our music, ESOL, dance and IT programmes returned face to face. We donated tablets and provided free Wi-Fi for six months so learners could keep studying at home.
